Extreme Weather: Long-Term U.S. Tornado Climatology Report

I've added a new report to the Extreme Weather, Natural Disaster, Tornado, Weather Warning, Climate Change Maps, GIS Shapefiles & Resources. The Long-Term U.S. Tornado Climatology Report comes from NOAA/NCDC.

The report is over 10 years old, but it's interesting that a lot of the tornado incidents agreed with the forecasts they created at the time. Now in 2012 it seems that forecasting the future of tornadoes or any extreme weather with any degree of accuracy is becoming increasingly difficult.

U.S. Tornadoes from 1950 through 2008. The United States Tornado Touchdown Points 1950-2008 map layer includes tornado touchdown points for tornadoes that occurred in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Descriptive information includes the latitude and longitude of the touchdown and lift-off points, the number of fatalities or injuries, an estimate of damage costs, and the classification of the storm on the Fujita Tornado Damage Scale.
